A Sociopath

A sociopath is typically defined as someone who lies incessantly to get their way with little concern for others.  They tend to have little regard or respect for the rights and feelings of others, often charming, charismatic and manipulative.

Compulsive Liar

A compulsive liar is defined as someone who lies out of habit. Lying is their normal and reflexive way of responding to questions. Compulsive lying is usually thought to develop in early childhood, due to being placed in an environment where lying was necessary.

Some common feelings after telling a fib, is usually some remorse, but the compulsive liars are unrepentant for their actions.
Just like any habit (bad or not), once you begin, you become content and continue.

What, Why and How???

Here are some more symptoms of compulsive liars that may not be as straightforward.
  • Low self-esteem: This is a characteristic of most people with a compulsive lying disorder.
  • Other negative personality traits: Watch for narcissistic, manipulative behavior and/or inappropriate emotions and impulsive reactions.
  • Addictions: People with addictions to gambling, alcohol, drugs or other activities also are much more likely to lie compulsively.
  • Bipolar Disorder: Impulsive behavior is common during this period, and it becomes easier to tell a lie than face reality.
  • Inability to face reality: Even when confronted a compulsive liar will never admit the truth.

What causes compulsive lying?

  • Because they behave badly but want to still ‘look good’
  • To genuinely save someone else’s feelings.
  • To control other people.
  • For self-aggrandizement.
  • Through sheer force of habit - “Lying is as easy as breathing for me!”

STOP  the lies!

Step 1: “To thine own self be true” - regardless of what others are doing

You know what is honest, so be honest regardless of a dishonest group-think culture - don’t hide behind the excuse of widespread lying.

Step  2:  Remember the truth is often easier

Cast off lying and you’ll find life instantly becomes much less stressful.

Step 3: Know what lying is

Don’t make excuses to yourself. Not telling the truth, when you know what it is, is lying.

Don't like my answer, then don't ask me

Some people will avoid the truth to no end.

Their "world" is how they want it, any deviation upsets their balance.  You see them, yes you do, they are the ones, seeking approval, praise and confirmation at every turn.  Now I believe in a "great job!" or a  "way to go!" to help boost a team member, when the job deserves it.  However, if a person doesn't admit to err, their chance to learn is non existant because the corrective action is part of the learning process.

So if you want to hear the truth, ask me.

Fool me once, Shame on YOU! Fool me twice Shame on ....

There are those that really think only the best of people.  They continuously give, give, give and when it is their turn to get anything, the jealous ones step up to the plate to hit the batter.  Knocking them out of the game.  Everyone knows what I am talking about.  IT comes in many levels.  I seen it all the way at the so called "top".  If you are wondering if this is about you, congratulations, you fingered yourself out as a insecure, unintelligent and conniving individual!  (Best bet go back and take English 101, 102 and Psychology 105, p-u-l-l-l-l-e-a-s-e!)

If you have no idea, well then keep reading you might learn what to avoid!

When we make these promises to ourselves, are we really expecting to succeed?

I like to think that each year when I promise to quit smoking, that I atleast tried, and wanted to quit.  Even though I failed, atleast I tried.   Well this year I did something different.  After all it is 2012 and the end of the Mayan calendar.
I decided that in 2012 I did not want to have any negativity in my home.  Everyone will NOT call anyone any  bad names, nor bring home any negative attitude , in the same note though, everyone has to do their share, no "egging 'em on".  No one can just sit on the computer, be gaming or sleeping while others are working.   This sounds easy, but some people are just plain lazy.
Some days I just look up to the ceiling or sky and say. Whose child is this anyway?
Did they not have the role models to follow?  Is this a test ?

So my family is trying to play nice with each other, though it is trying and it in no way is a white flag. The  2012 goal is to have a happy home with considerate and kind family members.

Well it is a start and our 2012 News years Resolution!

Wish us luck!
